The Old Testament
In the Christian religion the Old Testament refers to the books that form the first of the two-part Christian Biblical canon. The Old Testament is the first 39 books of the 66 books in the Bible. It begins with Genesis and ends with Malachi. The Old Testament has 23,214 verses and the number of words in the Old Testament total 602,585. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew. It is believed the Books of the Old Testament were written and compiled between the 12th and the 2nd century BC.
